⚠️ I was a paid Pro user on Bolt with a 60 million token plan. I requested to cancel my subscription temporarily, with the intention to use my remaining tokens and possibly resubscribe later. Support confirmed in writing that my token pack would remain available. But after canceling: My token balance was reset to 0 The discussion/chat feature stopped working entirely, showing “Error occurred. Retry” Support stopped replying for several days until I followed up again Even now, my issue is not resolved — I’ve lost access to what I paid for, and the broken UI hasn’t been fixed. On top of that, when you ask Bolt to fix a simple bug or syntax issue, it often rewrites the entire file, breaks your UI/UX structure, and still fails to fix the original problem. It feels like it rewrites excessively just to consume more tokens, which is a terrible user experience. I had high hopes for Bolt, but this kind of support and behavior is unacceptable — especially for paying users. If they fix it, I’ll update this review. But for now, I can’t recommend using it for real work.

This has blocked me from continuing a critical project with a deadline, and the delay has significantly impacted my productivity and trust in the platform. If I knew this would happen, I would have taken a snapshot of my token balance. I’m sharing this publicly because I believe in transparency—and because private support channels haven’t delivered a solution.

It also lets you install NPM packages, configure backends, and deploy your project instantly to Netlify. This makes prototyping or creating an MVP super quick and efficient. What I loved the most is the error detection AI—it’s not just about generating code; it actively fixes issues and gives suggestions. Deployment is a breeze too—one click, and your app is live. Sure, there might be some limits with heavy UI customization, but for quick projects or demos, this tool is perfect. It’s definitely a game-changer for developers exploring new tech or building proofs of concept​.

I have encountered several issues with this app: 1. The biggest problem is their customer support, which is almost non-existent. I purchased a pro plan and have been trying to reach out to them for the past two weeks, but no one is responding to my emails or messages in their Discord channel. 2. You cannot add a project to GitHub if you want to collaborate with your team. While I understand that I can create a minimal viable product (MVP) using the app, collaborating with the tech team is crucial, and this is not possible. You can open the project in StackBlitz, but you still cannot push it to Git; the only available option is to create a new Git repository. 3. Most tools nowadays offer a trial period for their pro plans, but this app does not provide that. 4. The AI is suitable for very basic applications, like simple calculators, but when you request changes, it often makes unintended adjustments to other components as well. I believe they have created hype around the ability to develop applications without code because it is a trending topic in the industry. However, I have used other applications that genuinely help in creating apps from low-code to no-code, and this is not one of them.

So I tried to build an EV database. Good understanding and nice schema as far as I can tell. Understood a switch from USD to EUR and from miles to kilometer. Biggest problem was the images. Most were broken and those who were not showed the wrong car. Seems images are picked up from Unsplash without checking their integrity or correctness. And then I run out of free credits. So all in all, same story as with most of these AI tools I'm afraid :) Willingness to pay for this service today: 0

Bolt is great and I've created lots of nearly functional apps with it and many websites. I don't code hence being excited to use this. The tokens are a generous amount but it's unfortunate that they still get consumed when there's errors because solving the errors can take quite a while. I wonder if the "undo" aspect should also undo the tokens used? Just from guessing i'd say 50% of mine were spent on this.
