The ability to build a highly custom editor via TipTap's rich API, coupled with its strong React support, made it the clear choice for DocsHound. We also really appreciated the continuous updates and active development, which proved incredibly helpful during our dev cycle.
WriteRush uses TipTap for its rich text editor and it's awesome! It makes the content editable dev experience so simple and easy. I considered lexical and even codemirror, but went with TipTap as it was perfect for my needs. I also use marked and turndown (npm) to convert to and from markdown
Tiptap is a great choice if you’re building a custom editor and want full control. It’s flexible, well-documented, and framework-agnostic. Just know it’s not plug-and-play — you’ll need to do some work to shape the UI and features to your needs.
First, unlike many other products, Tiptap distinguishes between text color and background color with two separate icons. This approach has caused some confusion, as users often find it difficult to identify the correct icon for adjusting text color, leading to an inefficient and frustrating experience. Second, I noticed that the design displayed on your official website does not match the actual product. The website showcases a different interface of the color settings than what is currently in use, which adds to the confusion and disappointment, as it does not accurately represent the product I am using. I wish to know if there are plans for future updates to address these issues. Specifically, will the user interface be adjusted to make the color settings more intuitive?
Congrats on the launch, I love TipTap! I reviewed a bunch of editing libraries before picking TipTap to build https://duckbook.ai Things I love: nice high-level interfaces to customize behavior, can write my own plugins, interactive node views are powerful, and it's built on ProseMirror (so you can pop the hood to a lower level if needed). Overall, I've been really happy with the choice, and building a slick Notion-like editor product has been fun :)
Tiptap has completely changed the way we build collaborative apps. The developer-friendly toolkit and real-time collaboration features are amazing. It feels like having the power of Notion’s editor without months of development work. The API is super flexible, and the documentation is solid. If you're looking to create rich text editing or collaborative experiences, Tiptap is a no-brainer!
Tiptap is the best open source editor out there, and extending it is surprisingly easy. This allowed us to stand up a pretty awesome editor at my company in less than a week, with features that none of our competitors had. Inspirational and also super cool that this comes out of an open source collective. Def try it!
I've experimented with a number of text editors and tiptap is, hands down the best out there. Generous free tier with amazing features on their paid plans. Easy to setup and extend and great support
TipTap is precisely the text editor that I was looking for. A rich and lightweight with all the basic features you need and then you can extend it with your own elements and widgets, perfect.
very nice wrapper around prosemirror, and now being backed by YC, we can expect a faster growth trajectory. i really wish they'd improve their documentation though.
I absolutely love the flexibility of Tiptap. How easy it is to implement and create custom extensions on top of it. Probably the best rich-text editor library out there.
I love it so much because it is headless, that gives me the freedom to adapt it to my website branding.
