Billing is a core topic for lots of companies. I'm used to work with in-house systems to tackle the specifics of complex activities (telecom is a tough playground!) and never found an appropriate third party solution... until Lago. At first, what interested me was the way the product is built with a well thought modeling of usage costs. Then I discovered and liked the people behind it, the community and the open source project that is pretty inspiring. Great Apis and culture. Really impressed with the ideas and execution. On the flip side, fairly hard to communicate with the Lago team, and have really struggled with transparency and quoting for upgrading our licence. Would really be great if they published pricing on their website. Overall a decent experience for open source software.

Pretty solid, I think. I've been testing it out for the potential approach for metering and usage-based billing. As a growing startup, we need something transparent, customizable, and easy to integrate, and Lago delivered on all fronts. So far so good.
