What is Value Study?
If you are learning to draw or paint, value studies are one of the most reliable ways to improve both your work and how you read reference images. Many artists use photo editors to convert a colour photo to black and white, but that only shows part of the picture. Value Study takes that idea a step further by letting you break an image down into simple value groups, compare tones, and see how light and shadow are really organised.

Great product. The missing piece in learning painting. It's true that many artists turn photo to greyscale to study tonal values. Also, many artists take a photo of their painting and turn it to greyscale also to compare with the reference.
As a self-taught beginner artist, this tool is super handy! It saves me a significant amount of prep time otherwise spent using photo editors to generate the different values. Thank you!! My only suggestion would be to implement an optional grid overlay.
