I've been a regular user of Contra over the last couple of years and the team consistently ship great features that really deliver value for their members. Indy AI was another great feature which I was lucky enough to beta test. I've seen a number of AI tools that have tried to do what Indy does, I even went as far as to setup an automation between Linkedin Sale Navigator and Phantom Buster, but it was slow and cumbersome to get leads. I love how simply Indy make this process and while I occasionally get the odd duplicated job, Indy is still very new, but already way better than other modals I've seen. Well done Contra, keep up the great work!
Contra stands out from its competitors by offering commission-free services, making it a top choice for both clients and contractors. This feature provides significant cost savings and increased earning potential for those who use the platform. Additionally, Contra's commission-free model fosters a more transparent and fair exchange between clients and contractors, creating a more equitable work environment. Overall, Contra's commitment to a commission-free approach sets it apart from its competitors and makes it an attractive option for those seeking a more financially and socially responsible work platform.
The experience on Contra keeps getting better as they release new features. It's hard *not* to love a platform that lets you do independent work with others and *not* charge a commission.
I’ve been using Contra for a while, and it’s easily one of the best tools for freelancers and creative professionals. From finding quality opportunities to managing proposals, contracts, and payments, everything just works seamlessly in one place. What I really love is how polished the platform feels. It’s not just about gigs, it’s about building your brand and running your business professionally without the friction. The one-line project prompt and portfolio tools make it super quick to showcase work and land clients.
🚀 Contra: The Future of Freelancing & Independent Work I’ve been using Contra for a while now, and it’s quickly become my go-to platform for showcasing my freelance work and connecting with clients. Here’s why I love it: ✅ Beautiful, Portfolio-First Profiles – Unlike other platforms cluttered with bids and fees, Contra puts the focus on your work. The visual portfolio layout is sleek, professional, and lets your projects speak for themselves. ✅ Zero Fees, 100% Earnings – Finally, a platform that doesn’t take a cut! Contra’s no-commission model means freelancers keep 100% of what they earn—a game-changer in the gig economy. ✅ Smart Matching & Collaboration – The Independent Pro Network makes it easy to find clients and even team up with other freelancers for bigger projects. The algorithm suggests great matches based on skills and past work.
I've had the same very negative experience with Contra as some others. The site was great when I first joined, and I was so hopeful that it would be worth the time and energy I put into creating a full profile on Contra. Sadly, shortly after I joined and put in several days of my time to immerse myself in the site, they changed the format and way of working. The number one reason why I joined Contra was because it didn't charge money, credits, tokens, or anything else to apply for the projects listed. This is a very significant feature that most freelancers consider, especially when joining a new site and not yet knowing if it will bring in any income. Now, this feature has been removed. In order to even view the projects listed, one needs to be accepted to the "Invite Only" Contra Job Network. This involves having to create a video of your portfolio (which is already on their site?!) and submit an application. This video has to be done using Loom (makes one wonder if they are taking kickbacks from Loom?!) and they take MONTHS to provide feedback on whether you've been accepted. I waited almost 3 months to receive a response and was rejected without reason or feedback or any indication of why. As a full-time, professional freelancer with over a decade of experience, I cannot imagine why my application would be rejected unless the criteria used are less than ethical. I've tried previously to discuss this with the Contra team; however, the entire company seems to float on an unrealistic cloud of toxic positivity and no one there will even consider a less-than-glowing word about the company. This can clearly be seen in the less than professional emails, full of false peppiness and absolutely littered with emojis that give them a childish, tacky, and blase vibe. The recent enormous changes to how the site works feel like a very underhanded, calculated, and manipulative move with underlying motives that are not ethical, professional, or trustworthy. And the abundance of very clearly fake positive reviews here, and elsewhere, only serve to reinforce the feeling that this company is unclean. I would no longer recommend this site to anyone and would suggest that freelancers looking for projects steer well clear of Contra.
Congrats on the launch! I started on Contra in April and it is by far THE BEST platform I've hosted my portfolio on. Reason being, I love the utmost support I have received from the staff and peers. It has been such a supportive community that wants everyone to WIN! I love the portfolio templates, super modern and engaging. As someone who is a freelancer, I love that Contra vets all their incoming clients that want to post a for hire listing. I know as freelancers there are situations where something feels off but since I have started on this platform there has nothing but ups and wins! One of my favorite things about Contra, is their contract option that they provide when you start a gig with a client. I struggled with creating my own contract in the past. Contra has your back! I have nothing negative to say about Contra and I am looking forward to whatever the future brings for this company! Cheers xx
I recently had the opportunity to explore Contra.com, and I must say that it's a noteworthy platform for creating portfolios. This review aims to provide an honest assessment of my experience using Contra.com. Pros: Excellent for Portfolio Building: Contra.com truly shines when it comes to helping users craft visually appealing portfolios. The platform offers an array of tools and features that make it easy to showcase your work in a professional and compelling manner. Whether you're a designer, developer, writer, or any other creative professional, Contra.com provides the canvas you need to highlight your skills and achievements. Fluid User Experience: One aspect that stood out to me was the platform's fluidity and overall user experience. Navigating through Contra.com feels intuitive, and the user interface is well-designed. This makes the process of creating and updating your portfolio a breeze, especially for those who may not be tech-savvy. Cons: Limited Opportunities: While Contra.com excels in helping you create a stunning portfolio, it falls short in terms of providing a robust marketplace for freelancers and professionals. One of the downsides is the scarcity of opportunities available. It can be frustrating to log in and find only a handful of relevant opportunities, and even then, they might not be updated frequently enough. On average, I found one promising opportunity every 3 to 5 days, which can be quite limiting for those relying on the platform for income or networking. In conclusion, Contra.com is undeniably a fantastic resource for portfolio building, offering a seamless and visually pleasing experience. However, it's important to note that the platform's limited availability of opportunities might not fully meet the needs of those seeking regular work or networking opportunities. If you're primarily looking to showcase your skills and create a compelling portfolio, Contra.com is an excellent choice. However, if you rely heavily on such platforms for a consistent stream of opportunities, you may want to explore other options in conjunction with Contra.com.
I recently joined Contra.com, and I must say, it's been an exceptional experience from the get-go. As a freelancer, finding the right platform to showcase my skills and connect with potential clients has always been a priority. Contra.com has exceeded my expectations in every way, and here are the reasons why I'm giving it a solid five stars: User-Friendly Interface: The website's design is clean, intuitive, and user-friendly. Navigating through the platform, setting up my profile, and browsing projects was a breeze. Contra.com truly understands the needs of freelancers and makes it easy to get started. Diverse Project Opportunities: I was pleasantly surprised by the wide variety of projects available on Contra.com. Whether you're a designer, developer, marketer, or writer, there's something for everyone. The platform's diversity in project types allows freelancers to explore new opportunities and expand their skill set. Transparent Payment: One of the standout features of Contra.com is its transparent payment system. You know exactly how much you'll earn for a project, and the platform handles payments securely, so you can focus on your work without worrying about financial transactions. Strong Community: Contra.com fosters a supportive and engaging community of freelancers. The ability to connect with fellow professionals, exchange advice, and collaborate on projects has been invaluable. It truly feels like a community where everyone is invested in each other's success. Responsive Support: Whenever I had questions or encountered any issues, the Contra.com support team was quick to respond and provided helpful solutions. Their commitment to helping freelancers succeed is evident in their excellent customer service. Portfolio Showcase: The platform's portfolio feature allows me to showcase my work in a visually appealing way. This has undoubtedly helped me attract more clients and stand out in a competitive freelance market. Ethical Values: I appreciate Contra.com's commitment to ethical and fair business practices. Their mission to provide freelancers with equitable opportunities and benefits aligns perfectly with my values as a professional. In summary, Contra.com is a game-changer for freelancers. It's more than just a platform; it's a community, a resource, and a reliable partner in your freelance journey. If you're a freelancer looking for a platform that truly understands your needs and supports your growth, I wholeheartedly recommend Contra.com. Five stars all the way!
I absolutely LOVE Contra. I found them a few months ago at the perfect timing when I was launching my freelance career, and everything was new and overwhelming. They took the guessing and every single one of my blockers out of the way. How do I write a contract? Contra. How do I invoice people? Contra. How do I create a portfolio? Contra. How do I process payments? Contra. It's been a few months now, and I bring every single one of my clients over to Contra. They think of absolutely every single one of our needs when working on their platform and are constantly asking for input from us freelancers. However, I think the best part is the caliber of freelancers that are part of this community. Everyone is incredibly talented and welcoming, and it feels like a genuine and welcoming community. I'm in constant communication with the Contra team, and I know they genuinely know me, my work, and my style, always keeping an eye out for new opportunities to match me with <3.
Contra is a game-changer for independents. No platform fees, clean portfolios, and easy contracts — perfect for closing high-quality deals. Love how it supports both freelancers and studios like ours!
Scam. Absolute waste of time, I spent hours and hours putting together my profile and building my work examples after I thought I was accepted already, apparently I was not, I needed to supply a video which i did, only to then be told there are over 4000 people ahead of me they need to check first! i then wnet back the next day and now its changed from 4000 to 10,000!. You absolute hacks, you need to tell people before they spend all their time and effort ttat you don't have staff or capacity to take them on! putrid waste of time
I've been with Contra for over two years now and I've never seen such excellent support for freelancers. They are working hard to help us be successful and provide ways to connect with each other in the Contra community. This latest feature takes the guesswork out of "how do I get started" and helps creatives and independent thinkers focus on getting their skillsets out there. Their user feedback focused upgrades show how invested they are in the freelancer community and I couldn't be prouder to be associated with them. Love how this company keeps adjusting to apply the tools an techniques we need to be successful.
