Started out as a terrific product. Jake Lee has proven to be an adept developer. Unfortunately, the site little social direction and is poorly managed from public relations standpoint. Excellent developers don't automatically make for wise community leaders. A collapse of the Squabblr userbase means that the creative content that fueled the project has largely dried up and gone to other sites. This can only be rectified by a complete change in administrative leadership, but the lightening that was initially caught in the bottle is unlikely to be caught twice.

Developer has consistently removed admins because they have given advice against decisions affecting the userbase. Developer has shown no interest in maintaining protections based on gender/sexuality, and has given direction to tolerate anti-LGBTQI+ content provided it doesn't include 'slurs' or 'targeted harassment'. Developer's decision has alienated a large part of the active userbase. Developer is removing users and posts about people talking about moving to other platforms, despite this not being against Terms of Service. The consequence of this is that the content rate has dropped to glacial speeds, around a dozen 3PP app developers have pulled the plug on their projects, and most of the active userbase has moved elsewhere, mainly Discuit. All-in-all, this was a promising site that has been torpedoed by the developer's hubris and mismanagement. Given the bad will, I can't see it ever improving.

Enjoyed the site when I joined (Was like 4300ish user). Constant updates, constant attention to peoples issues with the site from a usability perspective, everything seemed great here. Unfortunately the dev is also a "free speech" absolutist and removed most stuff pertaining to hate speech. Various updates to the ToS about all the content they can use and own of yours including editing at will etc. Removing all admins who doesn't share their ideas. My last day on the platform, was a good concept ruined by dev's ideology, so if you want Elon Lite, this is for you.

Jay has decided that being born Gay or Trans is a political movement and a wedge issue used to drive "free speech" off the site. Jay has taken LGBTQ out of TOS claiming that it is too much time for him to monitor the rule breaking. I have tried a multitude of social media sites and Reddit Alternatives. Not one has been as intuitive in its use and had as welcoming a community as Squabbles. The community continues to blossom daily bringing waves of content and discourse not dissimilar to other sites. Although the lack of downvotes and wholesome minded community provide a more upbeat connected atmosphere that encourages conversation. People are looking to have a genuine connection and not have a battle of wits. Will this vibe remain as the site continues its ascent in popularity? I hope. For now we have a chance to nurture that environment and guide Squabbles growth helping it avoid the pitfalls of past social media. !* Jay has decided that being born Gay or Trans is a political movement and a wedge issue used to drive "free speech" off the site. Squabbles is young but grows and evolves with breathtaking speed. Great vibes, friendly people, new features and/or improvements on existing ones every single day. The developers of the multiple mobile apps work with a speed matching that of the site dev. Hardly any trolls so far in my experience, despite moderators having only a bare bones toolkit yet. Waiting for the updates on that front before creating communities myself. I think Squabbles has the potential to replace Reddit, Twitter, and even Facebook in my life. ☺️

My favorite Reddit alternative. After one week on Squabble, I lost all desire to use Reddit and have not gone back. I love seeing the first few comments of every post to get the feel of the conversation happening. My favorite feature is hiding posts I read so upon refresh I am not stuck seeing the same posts multiple times a day as they gain popularity. The platform is evolving daily with all the changes enhancing the platform's usability, UI, or encouraging engagement. The developer is actively involved with the users and takes constructive feedback well. The developer implemented lessons learned from both Twitter and Reddit such as limiting users from moving to more than 3 communities and coins for engagement only being visible to the user. The developer is passionate, has a vision, and has been thinking about platform sustainability and positive user experience since day one.

When I first learned of the Reddit API fiasco, I scrambled to create accounts on several different sites. I tried the others first because Squabbles was lagging behind in community size, but the UI/UX stunk and it was difficult for me to find communities and follow discussions I was interested in. Enter Squabbles! The developer is committed to finding a nice balance between Reddit and Twitter through evenly championing self-posts and communities alike. He's worked almost non-stop--I cannot count the number of small, UI/UX-friendly changes that have been made simply because the community was clamoring for them! I've never seen so many self-proclaimed lurkers feel comfortable and confident in posting their first online forum posts, which warms my heart. Squabbles is about being friendly, open and inclusive: "The Nicest Place on the Internet"!

Moving from Reddit, Squabbles has a very familiar feel. The community is great, and for a site that is so young, there's already a ton of content. The slight Twitter-flavor also adds to the feel of the site, and it has a thriving ecosystem of communities and members already. The community has really come together to help Squabbles grow. There are multiple app developers making third party Android and iOS apps, like Tiff for Squabbles which I am currently working on. The developer has been extremely responsive to external developers and has making my work on Tiff a breeze, compared to the pains I imagine I would be experiencing had I decided to make Tiff for Reddit instead. Jake has been pushing out updates at an unprecedented pace and is working very hard to make Squabbles the perfect platform, which I think he's achieved so far. With the issues happening over at Reddit at the moment, I've decided to make Squabbles my new home, and I'm loving it.

One of the best link aggregator & discussion communities available today. Extremely responsive developer, great features, and growing fast. And best of all, it’s managed to avoid the toxicity and divisiveness of the more entrenched players. August 21, 2023 edit: I’m afraid I will have to retract the last sentence. While Mr. Lee is a talented developer, he is not a talented community manager. He managed to alienate almost his entire user base literally overnight by changing the TOS to explicitly remove protections for the LGBT community, among many, many other boneheaded mistakes. I cannot and will not support a site that has decided to cater to right-wing hate, and is just managed so poorly in general.

Has potential. Only downside is the extreme censorship and far-left bias. They (the mods) have 0 tolerance for discussion and instantly remove anything if they interpret it negatively. I don't mind that as much as I don't use those boards nor have much political siding; it's just something I noticed in their Discord, since for some reason they're extremely clique-y and have open tickets where you can see when people report things that can be even SLIGHTLY offensive; eg someone reported a Horror board because it was 'mature content' and usernames that have swear words in them. It's still in its early stages so I'm keeping an eye on this as my Reddit alternative. Ability to block users would help significantly. Board/community moderation is questionable and needs some fine-tuning in how it works. Creator is very passionate for this and is working very hard and listening to user feedback which is a plus. Has plans for monetization in the future, but I'm unsure how well this will work if the site grows extremely large. Pros: Clean UI, dark mode, easy to use and navigate, looks good on PC/Desktop view Cons: political affiliation dictates moderation, mobile view is clunky, no titles on posts, no block feature, search feature could be expanded on, offsite community is too clique-y Overall, it is a decent social media application to be used alongside others, but not a suitable replacement.
