I am writing to express concerns about Reddit's biased moderation, lack of transparency, and overall failure to maintain fair, consistent policies. As a long-time Reddit user since 2017, I have witnessed a significant decline in the platform’s commitment to open discussion and free speech. Key Issues: Biased Moderation: Reddit’s moderation practices are increasingly selective. Subreddits like r/MJInnocent were removed without explanation, while others like r/LeavingNeverlandHBO, which promotes anti-MJ narratives, remain active. This suggests a clear bias in how certain communities are treated, undermining Reddit’s core principle of balanced discussion. Unexplained Bans: I personally experienced a temporary and then permanent ban due to alleged misuse of Reddit’s reporting tool, despite following all guidelines. These actions were taken without notice or explanation, and multiple appeals went unanswered. This lack of accountability from Reddit admins is a significant concern. Shadow Banning & Suppression of New Users: Many new users face shadow bans with no explanation, often triggered by automated systems. There is no clear process for appealing these actions, and Reddit’s reliance on bots and AI makes it difficult for users to communicate directly with support. The absence of ticketing numbers and email communication further exacerbates the problem. Lack of Communication & Transparency: Reddit has become increasingly difficult to contact. Despite numerous attempts to resolve issues via Reddit’s support channels, I received no response. Additionally, r/MichaelJackson was left inactive after moderators were removed, and new moderators have struggled to manage the space effectively. Meanwhile, trolls have been allowed to disrupt the community. What We Demand: Reinstate r/MJInnocent and Other Unfairly Removed Subreddits: Reddit should explain and reverse unjust subreddit removals, ensuring equal treatment for all communities. Fair and Transparent Moderation: Moderation should be impartial, with human oversight to avoid mistakes from automated systems. All users should be treated fairly, regardless of the subreddit or subject matter. Clear Communication Channels: Reddit must create a transparent support system with ticketing numbers and direct ways for users to contact a human representative regarding bans or restrictions. End Shadow Banning: Reddit should stop shadow banning users and provide clear explanations for any restrictions, along with an accessible appeal process. Conclusion: These issues reflect a systemic failure on Reddit’s part to ensure unbiased, fair, and transparent moderation. The current practices undermine trust in the platform, and if left unaddressed, will only harm Reddit’s reputation as a space for free speech. We urge Reddit to take immediate steps to rectify these issues and treat all communities equally.

I’ve been using Reddit for years as a way to learn, unwind, and connect with people who share my interests. Whether I’m looking for design inspiration, software tips, or honest product reviews, I can usually find helpful conversations. I follow a mix of subreddits tailored to my personal and professional life, and I enjoy how easy it is to jump into discussions or just browse what’s trending. The quality of content varies, but the best posts are often insightful or surprisingly useful. It’s not perfect, but it’s become part of my daily routine.

It's good for reading and just awful for asking questions and posting. Questions and posts don't show up and when I ask admins why, ask them to help, they required a verification more difficult than if I'd want to register in a new bank. And there is just no way to reach Reddits official help. Their email directly says it doesn't work and to post a bug you have to be able to post at the first place (????) You required to have good karma to be able to post and ask questions and for earning karma you have to ask questions and post. Wt*? Profile is lagging, constant errors and terrible attitude towards new users.

I believe Reddit’s Rule 8 may have been applied too strictly in my case. I reported videos that caused me stress, anxiety, and even depression, as they seemed to contain harmful behavior that contradicts Reddit’s goal of fostering a safe, inclusive space. Rather than addressing these concerns, I received a penalty for report abuse. I feel Rule 8 should help protect users from content that may contribute to a hostile environment; however, enforcing it in this way discourages people from reporting issues in good faith and seems to prioritize strict policy adherence over user well-being. This experience has led me to feel that Reddit's approach to enforcing community standards could be improved, especially when compared to other platforms like TikTok and Facebook, where similar issues exist. I hope Reddit reconsiders its approach to handling reports on potentially harmful content and ensures advertisements are consistent with its stated values. Users deserve a platform that considers mental health impacts carefully and takes them seriously.

I am a Reddit user for many years, but the past years I had to create new accounts over and over again. With one account that had a huge amount of karma. So this is how you create a Reddit account: You register and make sure you can log in. Then you don't touch Reddit for 2 weeks. Then you come back and try to post. If that works: Congrats! But you can't post, because you need karma for most subreddits. So you comment on some posts so others can upvote you. If that works: Congrats! Only 30 karma away from posting! (1 karma per 3 days) But then Reddit decides the karma isn't counting. You can notice this by upvoting others. It seemed to work, but if you refresh the page, the upvote is reset. If this reset doesn't happen! Congrats! In the end, it will take you a full month to be able to post and communicate with others. But once in a while some Reddit admin decides to warn me about my posting behavior and if I don't adjust I will be banned. Just some automatic message without any valid reason I did something wrong. After a while, I know that when I get this 'warning' message, I would be banned the next day. So I already deleted my account. Oh, the message did say about involuntary photography and sharing of girls... I post in subreddits about Lego Technics, travel, and home renovation! This all is when you are a guy. I am not even joking. I created a new account (VPN, clean device) and registered as a female. I could post within 2 days! I am all in for equal rights, but I don't think Reddit gets the idea. If you ask me: Get Reddit offline and let's start a new Reddit that makes sense and makes it fun again!

Reddit is an excellent platform for discovering communities on nearly any topic. It's packed with engaging discussions, though the quality of content can be quite inconsistent.

I mean generations go by and Reddit survives. Reddit really threads than needle between popular enough to last but not so popular your mom is on it. It's edgy enough to bother and offend without fully turning ugly and becoming some 4chanish monster or a cesspit of trolling like twitter/x. It's a great site for discussion and jokes.

It’s basically the place where the internet talks about everything—a space to speak your mind anonymously. But the biggest downside is the mod system. The logic behind some of their decisions is honestly hard to understand. Plus, you’ve got to earn karma points before you can post in certain threads.
