Incredibly easy and very effective
I use recess every day with one of my teams. It helps keep casual conversation going, and reduces the sense of friction if you wanted to reach out to one of them for any work related question. While I do not know that they're having genuine bonding experiences, I have definitely learned some more pieces of information about my colleagues, and I've gained a better sense of them as people instead of just peers. And yes, there has definitely been some laughter and play with it as well. :-) I have also tried using recess with a different team and had no success whatsoever, as no one else was interested in the 10 seconds it took to answer the simple questions. Even with using the reminder feature, it simply did not take. So, YMMV.
I've been using Recess with my teams at Meta and found that it's really helped us get to know each other and feel connected while many have never met in person. I love that it lets us add our own questions; as content designers, we like to control the conversation! I've also really appreciated the flexibility on timing. At first, we had daily questions, but at some point we realized that it was too much and slowed down the frequency. This is critical for it to continue being fun, not a chore. Excited to see where the team goes with it in the future!
Simple tool that has added a lot of value to our team. Idea might seem too formal and cheesy, the WFH version of trust falls at corporate retreats. Was pleasantly surprised to see it's actually a good option for asynchronous team fun and getting to know each other better. Hasn't felt contrived or intrusive; I like the options to mix the different levels of questions depending on how well you know your team. The guessing "game" is a lot of fun too!
I use it for my team. Each week we use the Recess icebreaker question in our team meeting to help connect. Its nice that as the team lead I don't have to invent something and can trust that what Recess serves up with be good. For offsites we use the game room so we can play mini games together. We typically are on a VC at the same time so we can talk trash while playing ;)
My team and I use Recess for a part of our team bonding strategy since our team is fully remote! Recess gives us daily prompts that help us get to know each other better in a low pressure, do at your own pace environment! We love all the features Recess has built in, like short games and profiles!
Recess has been invaluable for team bonding in a remote work climate—even with members that I have never met in person—and our deeper understanding of one another has resulted in improved team health and stronger collaboration.
My team has been using this tool for a year and to say that it was instrumental for our team spirit, cohesion and closeness is an understatement. I went from having a detached team during covid who weren't close, to having the closest team. We now know each other, we care about each other's hobbies and likes and dislikes, we have fun together and all this while not taking away from work all day. It doesnt feel like organised fun either and not too time consuming. This has been the best tool for us and I'm so happy we started using it! Thank you Recess team!
This product is a lightweight yet highly effective means of connecting remote team members together. The infrastructure and attractive UI makes it easy for my team to submit their answers and we learn so much about each other as well. It's a great way to take a little break. (the turtles are also a cute way of social engineering to get people to respond :))
I work on a global team, and Recess has been such a positive contributor to our team culture and bond. It's so fun to get to learn fun facts and insights about your coworkers that might not otherwise come up naturally on Zoom calls. We also get very competitive in playing the guessing games! Thanks!
Recess has helped my global team feel connected while a) working from home b) having a 12 hour time difference between some members It has been key in making everyone feel connected and part of the team, and we've been using it for over 6 months now, with clear plans to keep on using it!
