Congratulations Oleg. This looks awesome. It's exciting to see how polished and refined this looks. Polished design is definitely not something I would have associated with open source in the past but that is changing quickly! Can you share more about how the Design Tokens feature works?
Epic! So excited for this Theres other great tools out there, but theyre all missing something, or force you into their eco system With open source, its so easy to customize and add whatever you need! This will be big!
The team behind Webstudio is really amazing! And the fact that their work is open sourced makes it even more amazing! Wishing you good luck with the lunch of Webstudio!
Their platform, while young and lacking some features so far, is very promising and already incredible. It really is and is shaping even more to be an alternative to Webflow. However, their support is not good. They offer support in their Discord server, but from my experience, they've simply ignored me when I misunderstood what their product offered. Only when I replied for a second time, saying I realized my mistake but would have preferred them to have pointed it out instead of ignoring me (leaving me to figure it out 2 weeks later), did they get back to me. They explained my error, but didn't acknowledge they completely ignored me. They offer more direct and consistent support to people who have experience like them, and aren't afraid to be blunt and unwelcoming to those they don't want to prioritize. I think they are not used to speaking to people with a lesser experience, so if you are someone who isn't an experienced developer, I wouldn't try to speak with them because they aren't willing to branch out like that and provide credible support. They will mention your "state of knowledge" while bluntly discouraging you from attempting to do the thing you are seeking their help with. Not only do they categorize and tailor quality of support to their perception of your experience, but they are cold with anyone, regardless of how their perceive your intelligence and experience. I’m open to trying again with them, and Webstudio really is incredible, but at the moment, there is no support team for Webstudio I feel welcomed to talk to; their "support" has discouraged me from following my dreams by not giving myself and others like myself the equal attention we need to learn and become more experienced (oh, and use their product).
Webstudio is great to start learning CSS and building sites visually - even for free. And with its flexible CMS integration + blazing fast content delivery Webstudio is a scalable option for professionals and agencies. It's developers are very active in their community. Your input is immediately turned into GitHub issues, cosmetic defects are often fixed while you're still talking about them. Highly recommended.
Webstudio is so much more versatile and capable than any other visual development tool with a comparable UX. It's still in beta, yet has powerful features that bigger players still don't have (and it's open source!). I can't wait to see how Webstudio matures. I can see them becoming the next Wordpress - and I expect people who like WP will be swapping to Webstudio over time as the product grows.
Congratulations Oleg and the team. I already used this before the beta launch and tried it out with a small site. So far I'm impressed. I love this open-source project where we have full controllability without the platform lock. Waiting for the releases to be launched this year. 😍
A breath of fresh air free from ever-increasing subscription costs. Finally a Webflow alternative that is capable enough to justify the switch. And it gets better every week. Active Discord channel with back and forth between Webstudio developers and end users.
Low experience, for me : its difficult to install locally for making JS app from a mac. (errors of templates). I prefeer to start using it locally, before buying the cloud solution. Can be better for that point.
Very flexible for those that like to code more themselves - looking forward to the CMS integrations.
Despite still being in its nascent stages, this tool has remarkably outshined its competitors, showcasing unparalleled potential and ease of use. The thought of witnessing its evolution and full capabilities within the next six months is genuinely exhilarating. This is a game-changer in the world of web development.
Exceptionally new tech but needs perfecting and a more friendly editor. It's capable but just launched so needs like 3-6 months to assess. Right now more templates are needed
Congratulations! Now, let us eagerly anticipate what lies ahead and strive to make it absolutely incredible.
