Past the initial wow effect on the demo, it was a pretty bad experience for me. My use case was super basic with TTS API. A lot of settings are poorly explained, the JS library was unusable. And in the end, the voice outpout is extremely unreliable.

I purchased the unlimited plan on Play.ht, expecting a reliable and efficient service, but my experience has been far from satisfactory. The service is incredibly slow and plagued with frequent errors, making it nearly unusable. The newer voice models sound robotic and lack the natural flow that was initially promised. One of the most concerning issues I faced was last year when I received a YouTube strike for using one of their voices. I reached out to their customer service for support, only to receive a shockingly unprofessional response. It felt as if they knew they had used someone else's voice without proper licensing but thought it was acceptable. Eventually, they changed the voice in question without any proper explanation or apology. Customer service has been consistently poor, with slow and unhelpful responses. Overall, Play.ht has been a huge disappointment, and I would strongly advise avoiding their service.
