Incredible experience with a flexible open-source BaaS. Especially when it comes to identity and access management - historically a headache with AWS, etc. - Appwrite makes it easy! Their rate of growth is also tremendous - powered by a passionate community and an excellent leadership team, they've already overtaken competitors with years' development ahead of them, all before the first funding round! The managed service rounds things out - next steps could be introduction of Bun for JS (already seen leadership exploring this idea in the Discord) and more granular control over storage, but it's still extremely early days. Cannot wait for the cloud service - already primed as a customer!

We used Appwrite to handle all the heavy backend stuff - user accounts, database, storage. It saved us time and headaches, so we could focus on building the actual product.

The introduction of Appwrite Cloud Beta is a significant milestone that will benefit a broader range of developers. By providing Authentication, Databases, Storage, Serverless Functions, and a Realtime API, you're offering a comprehensive set of features that will streamline the app development process. The support for multiple runtimes, SDKs, coding languages, and frameworks demonstrates your commitment to catering to developers' diverse needs. I wish you all the best as you continue to develop and refine Appwrite Cloud Beta, and I'm certain it will continue to be a valuable resource for developers across the world.

Just played around with Appwrite Sites and wow — it's exactly the kind of 'one-stop shop' I’ve been hoping for. Integrating frontend hosting directly into the backend platform feels like magic — no more juggling Vercel, Netlify, or AWS for simple web apps. The fact that it's all open source, supports both static and server-rendered projects, and talks to Appwrite’s auth, DB, and functions out of the box? Game changer. Massive props to the Appwrite team for delivering such a thoughtful, dev-friendly experience!

Open source Backend as a service

Appwrite get's it right out of the box in seconds saving our team at Ablestate weeks of backend setup. It would be great if it supported Strapi or shipped a JavaScript Appwrite powered CMS. Of course aggregator functions are a much needed feature. That said, I haven't seen a NoSQL BaaS that offers the best developer experience than Appwrite.

Very easy to self-host on DigitalOcean, and deploying cloud functions has like zero overhead. Using it as a backend for static sites with contact forms. Pretty nice because I can add custom server-side validation without needing a traditional web server. It's like microservices for people who don't care about docker and k8s.

Appwrite’s been a huge time-saver for us. It handles all the backend stuff—auth, database, storage, without needing to set up a bunch of different services. Super easy to get started and works really well out of the box.

A great option for building a full stack application, securely and scalable, without needing to worry about the underlying infrastructure. Also, you will not have surprises unlike in other platforms with huge bills thanks to it's built-in billing caps. The open-source community around the product is very friendly, constructive and helpful. You own your data in the platform, since you can migrate from the cloud solution to self-hosting easily, thanks to the built-in migrations feature.

Appwrite is a great open-source backend tool. It helps developers quickly add features like authentication, database, and storage to their apps. It’s useful for solo developers and teams who want to save time and keep control of their data. If you’re looking for a Firebase alternative that you can self-host, Appwrite is a strong choice.

ppwrite has quickly become one of my favorite backend platforms for building modern web and mobile apps. It's an open-source backend-as-a-service (BaaS) that provides a full suite of core backend features like authentication, databases, file storage, functions, and more — all accessible via a clean REST or GraphQL API.

Hi there! I'm a Full Stack developer of mobile & web apps (Dart/Flutter), and I have to say that I've been literally enjoying Appwrite for almost 1 month! Great software, great docs! Planning to roll-out my first Flutter/Appwrite B2B app (for REAL customers) at the end of this year.

I use Appwrite for many of my personal projects. It's way easier to use than the software by competitors, like Firebase or Supabasem especially integrating the service into the own SDK or framework (For me, it's Flutter/Dart and Python). Definitely recommendable!

Lack of developer freedom. 1. Function development is very slow. 2. Restricted data types on database. 3. Can't create relationship with auth user and file. 4. Dashboard lacks basic features such as: filtering documents, and ....
