Nuxt UI (and Nuxt UI Pro) was instrumental in crafting Shelve's polished interface efficiently. It offers production-ready components that handle complexity like dark mode and accessibility out-of-the-box, while still allowing deep customization. This saved countless hours, enabling focus on unique features and achieving a bespoke, premium feel rather than building everything from scratch.
Nuxt UI stands out as a modern component library by offering 30+ ready-to-use components that are fully customizable and backed by Tailwind CSS. It provides seamless dark mode support, accessibility features out of the box, and integrates natively with the Nuxt ecosystem. The library includes built-in icon support and comprehensive documentation, making it efficient for rapid development.
Nuxt UI streamlined development with its user-friendly design, enabling me to concentrate more on backend. Its robust component library and powerful features facilitated quick iterations and a seamless development experience.
It doesn’t require you to take ownership of all of the underlying primitives like Shadcn/UI does, and the theming is much more advanced and transparent to me than Shadcn/UI. It also has more layout-related components ready to go than Shadcn/UI and with less mental overhead. The closest DX I can think of is ChakraUI (for React), and in comparison to that, the SSR & Tailwind integration story can’t be beat (plus, it’s on Vue, which I prefer more).
I've built a full app using Nuxt UI and it is, by far, the most customizable and easy UI library that I've ever used. And I just found that there's also a Figma kit available for it too which has renewed my excitement. I'll definitely be using it again.
My favourite aspect is the DX, full type support for both using and extending the components to build my own. Either it being in a new module, layer or end-project. Easy access for global and per-component customization.
