A deceptive product. You can create a simple or fancy QR code, but it lets you know the fancy ones cost money. Fine, I made a simple one. After just a few days the QR code went "bad". QR.io says I have to pay a fee to keep it active. I was never notified of this. Now my QR code that I have distributed throughout the entire city is bad. What a scam, what a waste of my time and resources. I NEVER would have done this had I known they charge fees. There are plenty of other sites that are 100% free for simple QR codes. Do not use QR.io unless you need their premium service.
The Non-Profit company I volunteer for is yet another victim of their scam. They hid the true cost of their "free" QR code, and then they try to extort a monthly payment after you have distributed material that uses the QR code. We submitted to their extortion for a month, to keep the flyers we distributed working for that time. Now I am also considering if we should get a different credit card, to avoid them using it fraudulently for other purposes. The is good reason to not trust them with this information.
I really got suckered by this one. I am a published author and created a bunch of "free" QR codes for each of my products. I tested them and they worked. I spent a lot of time and money embedding these into a bunch of printed literature. Then they stopped working, with a message that they were basically holding me hostage to a very expensive "subscription" in order for them to continue working. Grrrrr. There are truly free and better alternatives out there. I now use Adobe Express (which I already owned ... I didn't even know they did QR codes ... and they last!) Take my advice and avoid these shysters like the plague.
This is definitely a scam. We made an account and paid a month subscription because we didnt realize we had to pay until it was too late. After we canceled the subscription, they continued to charge our credit card. I sent them over 50 emails asking to stop and for a refund. They'd respond every few days askkng me to send them a confirmation of my credit card info and even a QR code to out bank account. We had to cancel the credit card because they weren't going to stop charging it. These are persistent scammers.
Please never use this company!!! This is my first 1star review. Horrible experience. They market themselves as a free QR Code Generator and after a few days, the QR Code expires and then you need to pay a significant amount of money monthly to be able to use that code. I printed mine on a huge amount of flyers that I can not use anymore . On their website is marketed as free, even it says that you can use your QR Code created during the trial period. It is not stated that it is valid just for a few days. If I have a trial period on Canva and create a video then post it on my Instagram, that video will not dissapear from my Instagram profile because my trial period on Canva ended. This is just ridiculous, time consuming and it shows a big lack of respect towards their customers.
This is the first time I used the website & also the first time I even used a QR code so I'll admit I didn't read the reviews which I should have. However this website is such a HUGE SCAM. The website description markets it as FREE Unlimited QR codes and they let us scan a couple of times for free to make us believe it works but once I printed my business cards I realized it's not letting me scan anymore without payment. Nowhere did they mention this on the website...if they had then I would not have went ahead since the pricing is also quite expensive. I am a young small business owner and I have already paid to get 1000 business cards printed with this QR code. If I had the option I wouldn't even give this website 1 star. Seriously the worst experience I had. I am really not sure with so many bad reviews how this website still came up on in the top 3 of the google search and it is also sponsored. Google should think about innocent users like us before supporting this company for business & money.
Like so many other users who have posted reviews, I was scammed into believing that QR.io was a free QR code generator like it is explicitly marketed as. It is not. I printed the QR code on my wedding invitations (with no mention of free trial periods or later payments) and am now being held as a hostage of sorts. Either pay them an insane amount of money, or spend an insane amount of money to resend all of my wedding invitations. 0/5 stars. Do not use. Spread the word.
This service is NOT free. It does not clearly indicate that and if you create a QR code on the service they will 'own' the URL as it routes through their domain. AVOID this service. It is not necessary to build a QR code. Find a free generator that goes directly to the URL you want and use standard Google Analytics for tracking. Sad that this service fakes the user out. One of our younger employees fell for it, and we were forced to subscribe.
QR.io is a complete SCAM. It makes you think it's free, they strategically wait to allow you to set up the QR code (in my case on printed marketing material/banners), and then they email you that unless you pay a $45/mo fee that your "free" QR code will no longer work. Biggest kicker: they lock you out of your portal after providing your credit card, so you can't cancel your credit card info. I've been trying for 3 mos to stop it.
Total Scam. Presents itself as free and two weeks later holds your QR hostage for an expensive, non-refundable, full year subscription that they present falsely presents as monthly. They know you'll assume it's safe to use their service since you can get a QR nearly anywhere for free, then they'll pull the rug out from under you. They time things just right so users have already wasted money printing the code. It's pretty gross.
