Originality - AI and Plagiarism Checker

IMHO this is a scam. The AI feature detects human written texts as artificial, the plagiarism checker is very inaccurate and the readability feature is total nonsense (splits sentences at every period). Also, they offer a website scan (which does not include the plagiarism check), and will charge you loads of credits after you started it by accident without showing giving a cost estimation and without the possibility to stop the scan, which I tried. Also no response from the support. This tool is probably only here to get your money.

Originality AI left me very disappointed. I used both their website and Google Chrome extension, and I tried with the 50 credits they give you for signing in. I scanned tree documents: one entirely produced with AI, another completely original. Also, I tried some weird text I created in the moment about my day. All showed a horribly 99% AI generated content and and 1% of non-original human content. In the first text, it was understandable, but the second and the third were all false positives. Recently, I read a blog post from them about false positives and how to read them. They say that Originality AI only demonstrate "probabilities", but also say their tool is the most accurate in the market. Honestly, I prefer to identify manually the AI generated content by checking plagiarism, do fact checking, identifying patterns, and ask writers to create their content in Google Docs. Don't waste time and money there.

I have tried a number of plagiarism detection tools. The good ones tend to be quite expensive if you don't use them a lot, so I was attracted to the 'pay for what you use' credits model of Originality. I looked for a trial, but there isn't one. You have to sign up and purchase 1,000 credits in order to try the platform. Going by all the hugely positive comments about this product on PH, I thought I would give it a go anyway. Unfortunately, I was immediately disappointed. I pasted in a blog post which had been written for me by a copywriter I was trialling. After a bit of thinking, Originality told me my text was 100% original. I ran the same text through a plagiarism tool which I trust (but which is expensive) and it showed the same blog post was 58%(!) plagiarised, which I was able to verify - it's riddled with copied text - some text is slightly reworded, but some is directly copied-and-pasted from existing articles. So.... I don't feel this tool will meet my needs in its current state. And I have loads of credits left to use. I have not tested out the AI detection mechanism, which might still be a use for those credits, if it works.

I wasn't sure how much AI-generated content might be lurking in my website's copy. Originality.AI scanned everything and gave me a clear report. It flagged a couple of product descriptions that seemed a little too generic – turns out, they were indeed written by an AI tool a while back. I replaced them with fresh, human-written descriptions, and I feel much better knowing my site is authentic.

I have used the software for the AI checker and it has been the best I have tried to date, it has caught some real problems for us. I would agree with the comments regarding the plagiarism checker, I do not think that is there yet and hence we do not really focus on that element. As packaged for spotting AI content - it is pretty good. Excited to see how the software looks in 6-9 months.

I subscribed to this premium. I checked around 30 contents written by me. It flagged all written by AI. I have been checking other tools which show correct figures. But Originality AI is always wrong. I think Originality AI is doing business by making human content as AI content so people check again and again to reduce its score. I wasted more than USD 100 on checking content and later found that this is SCAM..... Find a better AI checking tool

The AI ​​detection effect is good, but it is not clear how this tool detects whether a piece of content is AI-generated. I tried to provide content from Google's official website, and sometimes it was detected as AI-written, which is obviously problematic.

It's unreliable. I scanned one of my essays published in 2020, and it said it was 56% AI written. It was published before AI became accessible, and I used NO AI to create it. What bothers me is this company continues to claim it's false positives are only 1%-2%.

It detected my own text as AI. And I used this to try on some literature pieces written in early 2010 before the AI era and it detected them as AI written. Extremely unreliable. Too many false positives!

Made a new account just to say that this tool has LOADS of false positives. Gave me a headache just to try to prove that my 100% human generated content is actually human content.
